Before I started collecting Rolex and other luxury watches, I had been buying $400 – $500 watches almost every month. These watches, though pretty, never seems to survive and almost all of them have very little resale value. After a little advice from my dad (a Rolex enthusiasts) I began collecting Rolex watches.
The very first Rolex watch that I bought (about 6 years ago) was the Rolex GMT-Master II 16710BLKBLK men’s watch. While this watch can be easily paired with almost any outfit, I had been wearing it for virtually every evening for the last 6 years. It has also outlasted several of my cheaper watches.
Afterwards I found out there was two toned version of this watch which I purchased, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master II 116713-BSO. The 116713-BSO has the specific layout since the 16710 except it is emphasized by 18k gold. The outline of this bezel, numbers, centre of the strap along with the turning dial is adorned with gold giving it a distinctive appearance.
I wasted no time in getting myself one of them as above all of the practicalities; it stands out over the 16710 and just looks more lavish and expensive (which it actually is). It keeps the black dial that makes it very easy to read the time under dark or glaring ailments. Like almost all Rolex watches, the dial is made from scratch resistant synthetic sapphire. It is also water resistant for up to 100 feet. If you’re planning to get this little bit of luxury, do only purchase from licensed dealers. My buddy owns a copy and frankly, I could not tell them apart!
